Southwest
Arizona & the Grand Canyon
Arizona combines major elevation changes, desert cities and sovereign Tribal lands. Grand Canyon views, Sedona trails and Phoenix culture belong to separate days with season-specific driving and walking plans.
Plan your visit ↓
Allow five or more days for a limited circuit. Check heat and entrance distances before booking bases.
Start with one focused visit, then add another when the journey and opening hours fit.

Grand Canyon South Rim
The South Rim supports a meaningful visit from viewpoints and rim paths alone. Descending below the rim adds heat, distance and a demanding return climb; it should not be treated as a casual extension of a viewpoint stop.

Sedona & Red Rock Trails
Sedona combines a town visit with red-rock trails whose parking and heat conditions need planning. Choose a route for its grade and access rather than following a social-media location that may be crowded or restricted.

Phoenix & Scottsdale
The Phoenix area is a broad desert metropolis with museums, gardens and severe seasonal heat. A cultural day can be rewarding without a summit hike, especially when temperatures make exposed trails inappropriate.

Three visits, three different days
Grand Canyon South Rim
Two days or one full day with a nearby overnight.
South and North Rim access are separate journeys. Check fire impacts, road openings, water availability and current alerts. Keep away from unprotected edges and never feed wildlife, even in busy visitor areas.
Sedona & Red Rock Trails
Two days for one substantial walk and town time.
Trailhead passes and parking rules differ. Carry water, respect closures and avoid stepping off trails onto fragile ground. Cultural places and private property require specific permission; scenic surroundings do not make every path public.
Phoenix & Scottsdale
Two days with a heat-aware plan.
Check heat warnings, trail closures and opening hours. Bring water and sun protection, and avoid leaving people or animals in parked cars. Gardens and desert preserves have distinct admission, transport and accessibility arrangements.
