Chicago

Chicago divides naturally into architecture along the river, major lakefront institutions and neighborhood streets. Wind, winter weather and the scale of the lakefront make a transit plan as valuable as a list of buildings.

Build a trip that works

Three visits, three different days

01

The Loop & Chicago Riverwalk

Half a day to a full day with an architecture tour.

Cruises depart from different piers and operate by weather and season. Riverwalk access can change during events or high water. Do not assume a river boat includes lake access, and bring a layer even on a warm day.

02

Museum Campus & Lakefront

A full day for one institution and the nearby shore.

Admission products and special exhibitions differ. The shoreline can be windy, icy or very hot, and waves are not a swimming invitation. Verify access needs and events that alter roads around the campus.

03

Wicker Park, Logan Square & Neighborhood Chicago

Half a day in one neighborhood, or an evening with a booked performance.

Restaurant and performance hours change independently. Use normal city awareness and keep valuables secure in crowded places. Ask before close-up photography and avoid presenting residential alleys or private murals as unrestricted attractions.
