San Diego
San Diego mixes cultural institutions, coastal habitats and harbor history. Balboa Park, La Jolla and the bay each support a full day without driving repeatedly across the county.
Plan your visit ↓
Three days cover the main contrasts. Choose a base with the transport you intend to use.
Start with one focused visit, then add another when the journey and opening hours fit.
Explore San Diego

Balboa Park
Balboa Park is a large cultural landscape with museums, gardens and separate attractions. Choose one or two interests before buying a pass; the zoo is a substantial visit with its own admission and should not be treated as a quick extra.

La Jolla Coast
La Jolla combines coastal walks, coves and protected wildlife habitat. The right route follows current access and marine conditions, with clear boundaries between observing animals, swimming and walking on cliffs.

San Diego Harbor & Coronado
The harbor offers maritime museums, public waterfront and a ferry connection to Coronado. Choose between a substantial museum visit and a longer bay outing so the day does not become a sequence of queues and transfers.

Three visits, three different days
Balboa Park
A full day; reserve another day for the zoo if it is a priority.
Check individual institution hours and ticket coverage. Heat and long walks can affect families and visitors with mobility needs. Do not assume one pass includes every special exhibition or adjacent attraction.
La Jolla Coast
Half a day on land; a separate session for a guided water activity.
Seasonal closures and wildlife protections change access. Never approach sea lions or seals for a photograph, and do not assume a calm-looking cove has no currents. Tide, surf and cliff edges matter throughout the visit.
San Diego Harbor & Coronado
One full day for a museum and a limited bay crossing.
Ferries, museums and harbor cruises have separate tickets. The Coronado landing is not immediately beside every beach attraction. Check walking distance, bicycle rules and weather, and leave time for boarding rather than reaching the pier at departure time.
