Yellowstone Geyser Basins
The geyser basins are fragile thermal landscapes, not ordinary walking terrain. Boardwalks provide access to dramatic features, and a predicted eruption should be treated as an estimate rather than a guaranteed appointment.

Yellowstone Canyon & Wildlife Valleys
The canyon and northern valleys offer different scenery from the geyser basins. Wildlife viewing is uncertain and should be based on patient observation from legal pullouts, not on approaching animals or chasing sightings.

Grand Teton & Jackson
Grand Teton offers mountain views, lakes and substantial hiking, with Jackson as one possible gateway. A scenic roadside visit can stand alone; a boat crossing or mountain trail adds separate schedules and preparation.

Three visits, three different days
Yellowstone Geyser Basins
One full day for a limited set of basins.
Stay on designated surfaces and keep children close. Thermal water and thin crust can cause severe injury. Check closures and parking conditions, and never enter restricted ground to improve a photograph.
Yellowstone Canyon & Wildlife Valleys
A separate full day for each side of the park.
Follow NPS wildlife distances and carry appropriate equipment for any hike. Never stop in a traffic lane or feed animals. Road openings, snow and animal activity change quickly; dawn viewing requires a safe drive and warm clothing.
Grand Teton & Jackson
Two or three days in the valley.
Weather and wildfire smoke can hide the range. Keep wildlife distance and follow bear-safety guidance. Parking fills at popular trailheads, and cold water remains dangerous even when the air is warm.
