Mountain West

Denver & the Colorado Rockies

Denver provides a city base, while mountain parks and ski towns operate by elevation and season. Build in time to adjust and avoid treating a high-altitude drive as an easy city excursion.

Build a trip that works

Three visits, three different days

01

Denver Union Station & Museums

One or two city days before a mountain stay.

Check rail service, museum hours and event crowds. Hydration and a slower pace can help comfort, but symptoms should not be ignored. A Denver hotel does not make a distant trailhead a short morning trip.

02

Rocky Mountain National Park

Two days near a suitable park entrance.

Confirm timed entry, road openings, snow and lightning guidance with NPS. A park pass alone may not reserve entry. Altitude can affect visitors differently; stop and seek appropriate help if symptoms worsen rather than pushing toward a summit.

03

Colorado Mountain Towns

Three nights in one mountain area.

Snow, chain or traction rules, wildfire smoke and thunderstorms can affect roads. Rental equipment and lessons have separate terms. Do not assume a scenic summer drive is open in winter or that an open lift makes every trail suitable.
