Denver & the Colorado Rockies

Colorado Mountain Towns

Colorado’s mountain towns offer trails, historic streets and winter sports, but a resort name does not describe current road or lift conditions. Choose one valley or town as a base and let the season determine the activities.

A practical visit plan

Arrive in daylight, settle into the town and check local information before taking a high route. Select one lift, trail or cultural visit for the next day. Keep a spare day for weather instead of changing hotels every night.

What to check before leaving

Snow, chain or traction rules, wildfire smoke and thunderstorms can affect roads. Rental equipment and lessons have separate terms. Do not assume a scenic summer drive is open in winter or that an open lift makes every trail suitable.
