Yosemite & the Sierra Parks

Yosemite, Sequoia and Kings Canyon are separate park visits connected by substantial roads. Elevation, snow, fire and entrance choice determine the itinerary; a national park pass does not replace every reservation.

Build a trip that works

Three visits, three different days

01

Yosemite Valley

Two days in or near the valley for an unhurried introduction.

Check the current entry policy rather than repeating a previous year’s reservation rule. Waterfall flow is seasonal. Stay back from water edges and never enter closed trails; snow, rockfall, smoke and road works can change the plan.

02

Sequoia Giant Forest

A full day from a nearby base; more time for additional trails.

Check road restrictions, chain requirements, fire impacts and trail conditions. Large vehicles may face limits on winding roads. Protect roots by staying on paths and do not climb fences or enter closed restoration areas.

03

Kings Canyon & Grant Grove

One day for Grant Grove; another day for an open canyon-road excursion.

Road closures and limited fuel or food services require advance planning. A summer photograph does not establish current conditions. Check the final open road segment and avoid adding a long hike after a tiring mountain drive.
