Yosemite & the Sierra Parks
Yosemite Valley
Yosemite Valley offers dramatic views without requiring a difficult hike. The valley floor, waterfalls and higher trails have very different effort and access requirements, so build a first visit around open low-level routes and a realistic parking plan.
Plan your visit ↓
Two days in or near the valley for an unhurried introduction.
Allow several nights and choose bases near the correct entrances.
A practical visit plan
Start early at the entrance appropriate to your accommodation. Use official visitor information and available valley transport to choose one walk. Keep time for viewpoints and interpretation, then return before traffic or darkness makes the exit harder.
What to check before leaving
Check the current entry policy rather than repeating a previous year’s reservation rule. Waterfall flow is seasonal. Stay back from water edges and never enter closed trails; snow, rockfall, smoke and road works can change the plan.

Sequoia Giant Forest
The Giant Forest is a high-elevation landscape reached by winding roads. Seeing the giant sequoias can be a short, accessible-focused outing or a longer walk, but the road and weather should be assessed before adding distant park sectors.

Kings Canyon & Grant Grove
Grant Grove and the deeper canyon are not interchangeable stops. Seasonal road access can make the canyon unavailable while the grove remains a worthwhile destination, so choose the actual park area before committing to a drive.
