Corfu Town & Paxos Harbour Crossing
Corfu Town is a walkable heritage base; Paxos is a separate boat/port day whose operator and sea conditions determine the route. Do not treat an excursion boat as a permanent inter-island connection or book a tight onward flight from its return.
Plan Corfu’s town day separately from a Paxos crossing and protect the return to the island’s airport or lodging.
Stay near the first door; solve the last mile.
Stay near Corfu Old Town for historic streets, bus connections and evening access. A beach resort changes the transfer to the port; confirm the actual ride and first/last bus before booking.
Kerkyra Lines lists Corfu–Paxos and Corfu–Igoumenitsa as separate routes. Check the live route and ticket details for the passenger pier used on your date; do not assume it is the same as an excursion-boat departure. Leave time for check-in and the return landing, then connect onward with a buffer.
Old Town paving, fort approaches and boat boarding require steps and uneven surfaces. Ask the operator about the actual vessel, pier access and conditions; do not assume a small boat is wheelchair accessible.
Make the main commitment and the return fit together.
Keep the Liston/Old Town and one fortress or museum as the city anchor. Use Paxos as its own crossing day rather than pairing it with an airport departure or long island drive.
One full day for Corfu Town; a Paxos excursion consumes another day and should be weather-flexible.
Verify the service and the place you will enter.
Book the boat directly with the named operator, confirm its departure pier and weather cancellation terms, and save the return details. Verify current municipal bus and airport services for your dates.
Keep a complete alternative close to the same base.
Summer can mean crowded town lanes and full boats; shoulder season may reduce excursions. Consult HNMS marine forecasts and operator notices before departure.
If sea conditions cancel the crossing, use Corfu Town’s museums, fortifications or a confirmed nearby bus-linked destination. Protect an extra night before flying onward.
Choose a reliable town day or a weather-dependent sea day; both fit a longer stay, but the crossing should not be the only plan for a fixed connection.
