A park afternoon and a separate night out.
Treat New Farm and Fortitude Valley as two connected but differently timed visits. The first is a river-edge park and a scheduled arts venue; the second is a busy entertainment district whose useful return may be earlier than its closing time. If you have only a few hours, choose the Powerhouse-and-park visit or the Valley evening, not both. The river end is pleasant to linger in, but a long park visit can consume the service margin needed for an event or night return. Give each part its own start and exit.

Check what is actually on
Brisbane Powerhouse is a scheduled arts venue, not an always-open museum. Confirm the day’s exhibition or performance, ticket, door time and access arrangements.
Make the Valley a deliberate extension
After the park or event, choose one checked bus or a direct walk toward the Valley while services are still useful; skip the extension if the event ends too close to your last practical train.
Leave from a named node
Use the station departure shown for your date or the pickup point arranged in advance. If neither remains workable, leave the Valley earlier rather than improvising a long late walk.

The venue calendar is not a timetable
Powerhouse programs, ticketing and access differ by event. A free or public park does not make a specific room or show available.
Late service margin disappears
Ferries and trains follow their own schedules and can change. Check the final useful departure and keep a ride pickup as the fallback; 24-hour service is not implied.
Rain or a changed ferry
For heavy rain, a wet river edge or a service notice, skip the outdoor section and retain only a confirmed indoor visit. Do not replace a cancelled ferry with an assumed same-stop bus.
Access is never implied by proximity.
New Farm is a residential river neighborhood as well as a recreation area, and Fortitude Valley contains homes, workplaces and nightlife. Keep noise down on residential blocks, do not photograph people as nightlife scenery, and use venue and park rules for alcohol, events and access.

Is the Brisbane Powerhouse open whenever New Farm Park is open?
No. The Council lists New Farm Park as open daily 8:30am–11pm, but Powerhouse access depends on its changing program and event ticketing. Check the venue calendar for your date before setting the route.
Can I take the ferry back after an evening performance?
Do not assume so. Check the actual F1 sailing and the rail or bus departure that completes your trip. If the event ends after those options, arrange a pickup or choose a different show time.
Does Fortitude Valley station run all night?
No all-night service is promised here. Use Translink’s late-night page and date-specific planner for the departure you need; keep a prearranged ride as the fallback.
What should I do if the park is wet or the ferry is disrupted?
Keep the Powerhouse visit only if the day’s event is confirmed and reachable by a current bus route. Otherwise skip the river leg and choose another confirmed indoor plan; do not count on an unverified replacement sailing.
